چکیده

A -expectation tolerance interval procedure is derived from the concept of generalized pivotal quantity, which has been frequently used to obtain confidence intervals in situations where standard procedures do not lead to useful solutions. The proposed procedure can be applied to general balanced mixed linear models. Some practical examples are given to illustrate the proposed procedure. In addition, detailed simulation studies are conducted to evaluate its performance, showing that it can be recommended for use in practical applications. © 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

One-sided tolerance interval in a two-way balanced nested model with mixed effects

In this paper we approach the construction of the both upper and lower tolerance limit in a two-way nested model with mixed effects in balanced data. In order to do so we proceed as Fonseca et al [1] did in order to derive the upper tolerance limit in a two-way nested model with mixed effects in unbalanced data, by using the generalized confidence interval idea earlier used by Krishnamoorthy an...

Bayesian Inference for Spatial Beta Generalized Linear Mixed Models

In some applications, the response variable assumes values in the unit interval. The standard linear regression model is not appropriate for modelling this type of data because the normality assumption is not met. Alternatively, the beta regression model has been introduced to analyze such observations. A beta distribution represents a flexible density family on (0, 1) interval that covers symm...

A Tolerance Interval for the Normal Distribution with Several Variance Components

A tolerance interval procedure is derived from the concept of generalized pivotal quantities usually used to obtain confidence intervals in situations where standard procedures do not lead to useful solutions. We apply the generalized confidence intervals approach and propose a two-sided tolerance interval for the distribution N(θ, ∑q i=1 hiσ 2 i ) based on mutually independent statistics θ̂, S ...

Generalized Fiducial Inference for Normal Linear Mixed Models By

While linear mixed modeling methods are foundational concepts introduced in any statistical education, adequate general methods for interval estimation involving models with more than a few variance components are lacking, especially in the unbalanced setting. Generalized fiducial inference provides a possible framework that accommodates this absence of methodology. Under the fabric of generali...

Computational Methods for Single Level Linear Mixed-effects Models

Linear mixed-effects models are an important class of statistical models that are used directly in many fields of applications and are also used as iterative steps in fitting other types of mixed-effects models, such as generalized linear mixed models. The parameters in these models are typically estimated by maximum likelihood (ML) or restricted maximum likelihood (REML). In general there is n...
